#NetGalley Book Review: Owl Love You by Matthew Heroux, Wednesday Kirwan Illustrations

This is terribly sweet.
Owl Love You
by Matthew Heroux, Wednesday Kirwan (Illustrations)
Owl Love You
Age Range: 4 - 8 years
Grade Level: Preschool - 3
Hardcover: 32 pages
Publisher: Cameron (October 9, 2018)
ASIN: 1944903356
Genre: Birds, Children, Family
My Rating: 4.5 of 5.0

The sun is setting, time to rise! At dusk, when an owl’s day is just beginning, a baby owl asks questions and a mama owl offers comforting answers in this gentle, reverse bedtime book, featuring lulling, lyrical text and luminous illustrations of the nighttime world.

Review:
Baby owl’s day starts at sun set while human children are going to bed. Mama owl takes baby out to show him the nighttime forest full of other creatures. Baby owl asks natural questions to which mama owl provides loving answers. The story is written in light, gentle rhyming which is pleasant to read. The illustrations are skilled and charming. This would make a lovely book to read to children as a bed time story or anytime during the day.

Quote:

"Hoo'll catch me when I flutter and fall?"
"Owl catch you, my dear, tail feathers and all."

Saturday Snapshot August 3, 2013 - A Strutting Heron

One early evening a month ago I was driving into our community and was startle to see this feathered beauty outside my window. I learned something new when I researched to make sure if this was an egret or a white heron. Apparently they are two names for the same bird.

These pictures were taken from my car window.
I hurriedly pulled a bit to the side and stopped to grab my camera.
Here is the heron across the other side of the road.
Too bad it looks further away then it was.

After looking at me for a moment or two it started to strut away.

I had to hurry to get in one more shot.

Once again the week slipped away from me with no visiting.
This Saturday morning I am determined to get around to see what's up with other blog friends.
Thanks to all who stop by and visit.

A big Thank You to Alyce of At Home With Books who has hosted this meme for a number of years. She is taking a summer hiatus at her blog and the new host will be Melissa at West Metro Mommy. Thank you to Melissa for picking up the responsibility.

Saturday Snapshot (April 27, 2013) Fuzzy Bird and Squirrel

I wish these pictures were better. I took them through our bedroom window to the birdfeeders which are about 15- 20 feet away. The screen and zoom make them really fuzzy. I was not able to spot the bird again with a clearer shot.

I noticed the blue on this little bird at our new gazebo bird feeder.

Here I zoomed in to try to get a better shot but it is still quite fuzzy.

Below the bird feeders this little fellow was picking up dropped goodies until our dogs took chase.
Our Princess is able to see them when she stands on the chair by the window and she will take off racing.

The squirrel paused on the tree to scold the dogs.

Saturday Snapshot (March 23, 2013) Early Spring

I forgot to add one last picture related to our Hawaii trip. I always bring the 'home' family a little something.  Here are my Florida Grandchildren modeling their Hawaiian clothing gifts. :-)

Our weather has been strange, warming up then getting cold again.
Here are our little Hyacinth on January 30th

Below are some of the finches that we feed during in winter.
The shots were taken in early February.
They aren't too good as they are all taken through screened windows.

This is one I call Woody The Woodpecker for obvious reasons!

The cardinals are out now but I haven't gotten their picture yet.

Thanks again to all the nice people who have commented on my Saturday pictures. I am so sorry I have not been getting to return the visits. :-(

Saturday Snapshot (March 16, 2013) More Flying Things from Hawaii

Here is one more set of pictures from our December visit with our son and daughter-in-law in Hawaii.
I did look up Hawaiian birds and the white chested bird with the red crest pictured last week is a Red Crested Cardinal.  The yellow eyed bird was a Myna.
But here are just a few more shots of a pretty bird and other objects you might see in the sky!

This lovely red cardinal had a great time getting a bath!

We saw several beautiful, full rainbows.

We also saw AirForce One parked nearby. The President was attending the funeral for the Hawaiian senator.

And before I leave Hawaii, as a proud mom,
I'll share one more view of our proud son with his new joy!

That about wraps our wonderful Hawaiian trip.
Next week I'll find a new adventure.

Thanks again to all the nice people who have commented on my Saturday pictures. I am so sorry I have only been able to return the visits at the end of the week. :-(
