Sharing Beyond Books #269 Comment Giveaway September 10, 2016

Hello again and Welcome to Sharing Beyond Books, SBB!

Thanks to everyone who commented last week.

Interesting again: only four out of 17 have participated in some form of Secret Santa or RAK (Random Act of Kindness) book gifting. Five never heard of it and eight others never participated. At least six (plus those of us who have participated) think it would/could be fun. (It is and I'll try to remind you all when I see a link this year.)

~~~~~
The Winner from SBB #268 comments is:#12 Llhen who can make a GC choice if international or book choice from the Updated ARC/Review titles or (not yet updated) Love titles - all linked near the end of the post. [I'm hoping to update the book choices - maybe the beginning of next year, lol.] Please let me know your choice by completing the WINNER FORM.
WEEK #269
(One Question.)
MaryP asks: Are you disappointed when the cover models don’t match the author’s description or doesn’t it matter???
I find it more annoying then disappointing - especially if the hair color is wrong or obvious things like that. And then there is some annoyance when I see the same image on two different books. (ie example image below.)
Also, I have recently read a very good book but had to wonder about the title. It was catching, and that is probably why it was used, but it was a little misleading.
Image Found at Indie Book Launcher.
Thanks to those who are sending in Questions. DON'T BE SHY! Surely everyone has a Q or two you'd like to ask. Input suggestions in this Suggested Question Form. At the end of each month I draw from the suggestions I used during the month and that person will get a book choice or GC. I thank everyone for submitting questions. Thanks for sending in questions! The supply of questions is dwindling so share some if you think of any -- even if they are duplicates I'll weed through or try to modify.
Your turn to share: MaryP asks: Are you disappointed when the cover models don’t match the author’s description or doesn’t it matter??
SBB Comment Winners can choose a selection from the Valentine and "Love" books or the February 2015 Newly Updated ARC/Review List. (My daughter pulled several of the Christmas titles to give with gift bags we made up for the nursing homes. One of these days I will get together a new box of Christmas titles.)
SBB Rules:
a) Must be a follower.
b) Share a comment on the question above.
Open internationally and an international winner may get a smaller book or a $5.00 GC if I decide the mailing is too much.
I will pick a Comment winner from all comments made through Saturday September 17, 2016 at 5 PM central.
  1. i don't mind when it's a small difference for example where a tatoo is and where it's suposed to be but bigger difference hair color or worse a white women when it's supposed to be an asian one for example that bother me more. i also don't like when it'sb teh same picture/cover for two different book and it seems to happen more and more in urban fantasy
    ultimately though it's the blurb that make me buy teh book or not ( so the cover could perhaps leads me to one edition instead of another but that's all)
    i particulary LOVE the cover for the sentinels of new orleans by suzanne johnson, teh details are all there and the artist do"es feel the story so well to make such perfect cover
  2. Congrats to the winner!
    I don't put much thought into the cover models at all. If they match the idea my mind conjures up, that's cool, but if not, I'll read the book anyways.
  3. Annoying is the right word for me. We all create images of the characters we read about and they are described in the book so it's annoying to see a cover totally different then how they are described.
  4. I am disappointed when they look vastly different from the description. They should at least resemble the characters or their personality a little bit.
  5. I am very annoyed when this happens. I think the cover photo should resemble the person in the book.
  6. Congrats, Llhen!
    As for the question, no, I will not be disappointed. I might notice that the models don't match the characters, but it wouldn't bother me.
  7. I have come to expect them not to match, which is kind of sad really.
  8. Congrats to the winner.
    Last week I was ordering books from Amazon, the author had given a new title to one of her older books.
  9. Doesn't matter to me.
  10. It doesnt really matter but I hate dull and squiggles on covers on books!
  11. I don't usually think of the characters' appearances when I read so it doesn't matter to me.
  12. It does matter. If you're gonna put a person on the cover, they should fit the character's description. Kind of why I was unhappy with the Divergent movie. Tris had different coloured hair! It's such a simple thing to get right but no, they didn't follow the book! Baddies!
  13. It's preferable when the covers match the characters, but it often doesn't match.
